The Care Bags Foundation - Dec 22, 2011

Annie Wignall, founded Care Bags Foundation at the young age of eleven, when she learned about many kids who were in crisis situations, forcing them to leave their homes with very little of their own belongings.  Being an extraordinary young girl, Annie wanted to help better the lives of kids, simply out of love.  Annie’s foundation started as a small home- based project that helped kids in Iowa, developing into a recognized nonprofit organization nationwide, providing services to children worldwide.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand - Dec 22, 2011

Alex Scott, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma around before her first birthday, was a remarkable young girl who wanted to raise awareness and money to help childhood cancer research.  Alex created an idea of holding a yearly lemonade stand to help other children with cancer, and quickly news spread across the world.  At her first lemonade stand, $2,000 was raised to help other children who were also battling cancer.  Sadly, at the age of 8, Alex passed away.  However, Alex’s legacy lives on.

Junior Achievement BizTown - Jan 3, 2011

The Junior Achievement BizTown curriculum was created especially for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.  Students learn the principles necessary for a successful day in JA BizTown.  For example, they learn about good citizenship, financial literacy, and economics.  To further their understanding, students take skills assessments and read through JA BizTown classified ads to help guide them to select a job they would like to have when they spend the day at JA BizTown.
